FAQs
Q: What areas do you serve for in-home lessons?
I work with clients throughout the Lehigh Valley and Upper Bucks County, including Bethlehem, Hellertown, Coopersburg, Quakertown, and surrounding towns. If you’re not sure if I can get to you, shoot me an email to ask. And if you are outside that range, online lessons are available.
Q: What training methods do you use?
I primarily use positive-reinforcement-based methods because they build trust, motivation, and clear communication. That said, every dog-and-handler team is unique, and after nearly two decades of experience I’ve developed a broad set of tools to meet those individual needs. My focus is always on what’s fair, effective, and supportive for the dog—and what helps the human side of the team succeed, too.
Q: What kinds of behavior issues can you help with?
I work with a wide range of behavior challenges, including leash pulling, jumping, barking, resource guarding, fear, and reactivity. I also help dogs with separation anxiety, confidence-building, and general home manners.
More complex issues—such as aggression toward people or other dogs—are considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure the training plan is safe and appropriate for everyone involved..
Q: How do I get started?
To get started, just fill out the contact form or email me at forthewindogtraining@gmail.com. I’ll follow up with a New Client Intake Form to gather details about your dog and goals, and then we’ll schedule your first lesson. That session is hands-on—we’ll begin training right away and outline a personalized plan for your dog.
Q: What happens during an in-home lesson?
We’ll start by reviewing your goals, your dog’s behavior, and your daily routine. Then we’ll work hands-on with your dog in your real-life environment so you can practice practical, lasting solutions.
Q: How long is each session?
Private lessons are typically 60 minutes. Frequency depends on your goals—some clients schedule weekly, others bi-weekly or as needed.
Q: Can multiple family members participate?
Absolutely! Everyone involved in your dog’s care is encouraged to join so we can create consistency at home.
Q: How do online lessons work?
We meet via Zoom or other video conferencing program. You can share video clips of your training or show me what’s going on with your dog and I’ll provide feedback, demo training/handling options, and create a custom plan for your next steps.
Q: What equipment do I need for online agility coaching?
You’ll need a stable internet connection, a phone or camera that can record, and enough space for the skills you want to work on. Even limited setups can be very productive!
Q: Where do you teach agility lessons?
I teach group and private lessons at UDog Agility in Huntingdon Valley, PA, and private sessions at Fever’s Field in Bethlehem. I also offer online agility coaching and seminars by request.
Q: Do I need experience to start agility?
Nope! I love helping new teams get started. We’ll focus on foundations like body awareness, flatwork, and focus so your dog learns safely and confidently.
Q: Do you coach competitive teams?
Yes. I work with all levels—from first-time handlers to teams competing at the national. Lessons are customized to your skill set, ring goals, and your dog’s learning style.
Q: Can you come teach at my club?
Yes! I’m available for seminars and workshops across the U.S. Reach out via email to discuss topics and dates.
Q: How do I pay for lessons?
Payment is due at your lesson via cash, check, Venmo or credit card.
Q: What’s your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made with at least 24 hours’ notice can be rescheduled. Same-day cancellations or no-shows may be charged in full.
